The Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I knew this film was going to be good and interesting. I really liked the original 1968 film but I didn’t expect to be amazed! This film is quite different than what you might expect. A large part of the success of this film is due to the writing and directing. Franco Lithgow and Pinto are great but its  Andy Serkis’s performance as Caesar the ape that steals the show and  is the heart of the film.  The subtleties that are captured  by the animators are quite impressive, thanks to Serkis. The last technical milestone I remember was “Avatar”, and now “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” The story is essentially the genesis of how exactly the whole thing began and why the Apes hate the Humans so much. In fact , I was rooting for the Apes myself. Those who are familiar with the original story will make many connections, and yes your favorite line is in there as well….yes that one , you know what I’m talking about! There is nothing silly or corny in this film, which could have easily been the case if the film was produced in the wrong hands. This film is beautiful, entertaining and heartfelt. I went with a friend, who had never heard of the original film and he enjoyed it as well.  It’s a must see!   (
